It happens every year. Valentine’s Day rolls around and I am reminded of a holiday that I once cringed at. The chocolate hearts and red roses and pre fixe menus aren’t for me. And my personal style doesn’t really include pink and hearts. But as a mom, it’s so fun to celebrate this celebration of love. And it’s the perfect time (at least here in Chicago) to add some felt or paper hearts and or front door decor to make winter less dreary. My but my Valentine’s Day decor collection is sort of non-existent. I have quite a few Valentine’s Day books, need to work on my collection of heart-shaped decor. If you’re looking for Valentine’s Day decor, you’ve come to the right place! Here are my favorite Valentine’s Day decorations that are actually cute.

Beautiful Valentine’s Day Decor Ideas

I am actually debating throwing a festive Valentine’s Day party for my girls. They both have summer birthdays and really want a party during the school year. I could keep things pretty simple with some DIY decorations and the addition of a few Valentine’s decorations to create an inviting atmosphere for a little get together. We’d have a cozy dinner (heart shaped pizza, naturally) and do some Valentine’s Day crafts. While I’d prefer neutral Valentine’s Day decor, my daughter’s love of pink has softened me so I chose some different decor items that the kids will love.

So I started my search for Valentine’s Day décor. I searched big stores and small shops for heart-shaped decorations and other heart-shaped items. Here’s the selection of valentine decor items that I liked during my search.

Striped Table Runner

Such a fun way to add a little something to your dining table. You don't have to choose a table runner covered in hearts that you'll use once a year. Look for versatile decor items like elegant table runners with red patterns that you can use throughout the year.

Felt Heart Garland

I cannot think of a better way to make a children's space festive for the holidays. This Valentine's Day garland would be cute across a mantel, kids' bookshelf, or at the foot my girls' beds. It comes in red if you're looking for a splash of color, but I prefer the pink.

Preserved Boxwood Heart Wreath

Heart-shaped wreaths are a fun way dress up for your door for the holiday, but most of the ones I've seen are fresh, and wouldn't last too long. It's also freezing here, so I need something durable. I think a preserved or faux boxwood would be a cute and classy touch.
