It wasn’t until her first birthday that my baby girl’s nursery was done. I love white decor but her white nursery was…too white. I love blue and green in a baby’s room, but went with soft pink for my baby girl’s room. This was done by adding wallpaper to the white walls to my little girl’s nursery, and it made a huge difference. And then woven shades and curtains which completely transformed the space. I’m going to share some baby girl nursery ideas, from wall art and neutral shades to nursery furniture and crib bedding, I’m sharing some favorite baby girl room decor.

Beautiful Nursery Decor Ideas for a Baby Girl

When it comes to decorating a baby nursery, I prefer something timeless with a soft color scheme. If you’re looking for baby girl nursery themes, this probably isn’t the post for you. I’ve never gone with a theme. But I love a sweet, simple,  mostly neutral nursery design will be the perfect place for your baby to sleep. Think of your design style when putting the room together, but keeping things simple is always nice. I added floral wallpaper to both of my girls’ rooms, but the designs didn’t feel too bold. I also try to think about the transition from baby room to little girl’s room, so choosing classic pieces that will last or convert can make the process a bit more smooth.

My second daughter’s room featured a very neutral design, with a little color in her bed linens with a few accents, and a grey area rug. Sure, you could have fun with bright colors, but I like something soft and calm color palette since this is where baby will rest. If you’re looking for furniture and decor, I have some great ideas for you.

Choosing a crib

For both of my girls, I chose a white crib, although there are some beautiful light wood options, too. Many cribs have the option of a side rail that will allow it to turn into a toddler bed. I did this with my first, but moved my second right to a Jenny Lind bed with wood side rail, she she did really well.

Crib Sheets and Quilts

There are some adorable crib sheets out there, in beautiful patterns like floral motifs and block prints.

I’ve never purchased a traditional changing table since they’re only good for so long. And if you’re working with a smaller space, it usually makes more sense to use the dresser as a changing table. I love this changing basket – it’s the perfect place to change baby and can be topped with a changing pad for quick/easy leaks.

Glider

When it comes to a nursery chair, I prefer a glider to a rocking chair. I would recommend testing them out to see what feels right for you. Choosing a chair in a neutral color and adding an accent pillow will make it easier to pass down to potential future siblings.

Throw Pillows

Throw pillows are a great way to bring in another accent color or pattern. Choosing something that coordinates with (but doesn’t perfectly match) baby’s room adds a little something. This is a nice way to bring in pattern without wallpaper.

Wallpaper

These first two wallpapers are the ones I used in my girls’ rooms. If you’re renting or want something less permanent, I’d recommend checking Etsy for wall decals. This is a great way to add some pattern and color to a small space. and decals can be a great focal point, too. Adding wallpaper made a huge impact and it really brings life to a small room.
