Still processing the fact that I chose this paint color but I love “the green room.” Up next: a rug and pillows. And more art. And some antique wood pieces.

Paint: @farrowandball calke green
Sconces: @visualcomfort
Sofa, chairs, and art: @shopanecdote (chairs have been discontinued)
Coffee table: @serenaandlily

We have a family room! I can’t tell you how good this feels after living here for 7 months.
Here’s what we’ve done and what’s left:

That big green thing was a rug pad that was (literally) fused to the floor. So we replaced the floors. Stain details are on my blog.

We removed all the paneling, added drywall, lowered the firebox, and have a new surround coming in the next few weeks.

All the cans have been removed and we added this beautiful chandelier from @visualcomfort.

The custom sisal rug is from @annieselke and doesn’t shed!

Our @shopanecdote sofas arrived today, and our blue and white slipcovered ottoman (with new custom cover) should be here Saturday.

I’m having the white chairs reupholstered in a blue and white fabric and finalized pillow fabric and a custom skirted (blue floral) table for the window with @kiradaviddesign today. Pillows are being made by @arianna_belle. So this is just phase one.

We were going to do custom drapes but the quote was insane so bringing in more blue and white other ways, and sticking with woven shades.

Everything’s linked on my blog. Just search “sources” and the post will come right up.

This old house has been a project. I can understand the appeal and ease of a new home, but there’s something special about making an old house your own. It’s exhausting and draining, but seeing it take shape is ✨

There’s a new “what’s on my mind” post on my blog. And I talked about some house updates - I moved things around in Margot’s room, ordered 2 new nightstands (linked in todays post) for her bed, some rug swatches, art, and new pillows (with more pattern and color) coming.

Wall color will be last - want to make sure it all works together.

Tonight, I watched her dance and it brought me right back to diagnosis week. But instead of feeling broken, I found myself, once again, amazed by my daughter. My hero. She never gave up. She never let treatment take away her incredible spirit.

Hey! I’m not giving up today.
There’s nothing getting in my way.
And if you knock knock me over I will get back up again.

This week marks 6 months off treatment and TWO years since she finished the hardest block of treatment. Looking back m, it still doesn’t feel real. It’s this hazy blur that is fortunately not part of our everyday anymore.

And she’s here. She’s happy and thriving, and we’re the luckiest. ✨🌈🦄 #supermargottotherescue

I’ve shared my newborn essentials on my blog, but know things have changed in the last few years. What are your top 1-3 products that made those first few months easier?

Well, I’m the mom who makes class Valentines now ❤️ I am so excited to once again partner with our family’s favorite, @wileywallaby, for Valentine’s Day. I used their classic red and watermelon (my two personal favorites) to create these DIY Valentines, and came up with some non-candy options, too. Head over to my blog to download these FREE printables and to get a full list of everything I used, grab some @wileywallaby, and create some easy DIY sweet somethings for your Valentines. #wileywallaby #wileywallabypartner #valentinesday #printable

I’m in nesting most (but when am I not?) and am trying to figure out what’s “off” in Margot’s room. A deeper pink paint might help and a less muted rug? I *love* this rug - we have the same one in our dining room. But it doesn’t feel right in here.

I have some art ready to go but am waiting on a few pieces before hanging. Confident @kiradaviddesign will solve all my problems tomorrow ✨

Kate *loves* her flower room - her two favorite things are her dollhouse and opening (and closing) her remote control @hunterdouglas PowerView automated shades from @beyond_shades. They’ve become part of our routine and to her, they’re magic 🪄

With the simple push of a button (and no cords) all the they open and close perfectly. I love the warmth and texture of the Millhouse burlap sack woven shades bring to her room. #ad

Our nanny is off this coming week and we have a lot going on. So it will be interesting to see how much I actually get done. I’m going to use Kate’s naps to get work done and will try not to be at the computer from 8PM-12AM. Wish me luck.

New blog post coming soon (ish?) and a more in-depth newsletter with some updates and changes for our family. Sign up via the link in my bio.

I’ve been getting requests for house updates but haven’t had much to share. Things are happening pretty s l o w l y here.

But the family room is coming along - we are a mantel, furniture, window treatments, and a chandelier (goes up next week!!) away from a real room.

The paneling has been removed. We lowered the dated firebox (I was very passionate about this project) 😂 and are waiting on a limestone mantel. The parquet floors (and rug pad that was fused to the floors 😳) have been replaced with wood stained to match the rest of our home. Goodbye cans! We’re installing one (beautiful) @circalighting chandelier (and lots of lamps) 💡

No one knows what will happen this year. We will experience ups and downs. Many of us will go through hard things.

I have to hope our hardest days are behind us. And just 2 days into 2023, I am full of hope. Not for perfection. Not to master a craft. Not to get everything done. Yes, I have some career plans and goals, but they’re not rigid. I’d like to make a difference - especially online. to focus more on sharing what matters most. To continue to build community here.

M than anything, I want to feel joy. I want to have slower days. To embrace those newborn days. To do the things that I couldn’t do for so long. Who can relate?

I’m going to share more about my hopes for the year and what I’m working on in therapy in my newsletter this week so sign up by clicking the link in my bio.

The first 3 photos were taken this Christmas. Time with family, holiday parties, 5 months off chemo, and a head full of beautiful curls. ✨

The last 3 were taken Christmas 2020. Margot had just finished the most aggressive block of treatment and was at risk for fevers and infection, so we lived in a bubble. And we ended 2020 and started 2021 in the hospital due to a fever. She was happy, but you can see the toll chemo took on her little body.

So to be where we are now — the things I’ve learned and the gratitude I feel…it’s pretty incredible.

All of my “goals” feel so different for this coming year. They’re all about slowing down and enjoying life and taking care of myself and my family. Making progress in healing from past traumas. Being happier and healthier. I’ll write more soon. I am so curious to hear what you’re goals are and if they are more wellness or career focused? Or something else? Let’s discuss.

I am so ready for 2023. To enjoy my girls and this baby boy on the way.
