All parents love seeing their kids happy. Before treatment, I would’ve loved to see Margot playing with a friend. But we are almost 5 months out of treatment and to hear from her teachers that she is thriving - to see a photo of her with her best friend (and the fact that she gets to have a best friend) at school - it’s an indescribable joy. I will never take these moments for granted.

As we sat at the table for breakfast this morning, I looked at those cute little waves flicking up offer head, and I was beaming. Like the kind of smile that makes your face hurt. Last year at this time she was slowly losing (most of) the rest of her hair - a side effect from chemo. And it broke my heart.

But look at her now. There’s nothing more I could ask for this Christmas.

We spend on Starbucks in a few days what the government spends on pediatric cancer in a YEAR. And we’re just about 21k away from $300,000. That might sound like a lot and it is, but I KNOW we can do this for the ~ 45 children that will be diagnosed every. single. day. That’s 810 children from now until Christmas.

This house is warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and looks spectacular with Christmas lights. It's a great house. I never want to move. But the thing I think I like best about this house are the voices I hear when I walk through the door. 🎄🎅🏻🤍

I’m excited to partner with @AstraZeneca to share their YOUR Cancer Program’s Cancer Community Awards (C2 Awards), which celebrate people and organizations making a meaningful difference in cancer care. I spent over half my time as a mom watching my baby girl go through treatment for Leukemia. As awful as it was, we always had hope. And that hope came in the form of doctors, nurses, scientists, and those who fight to make things better for patients and their families. I’m sure we can all agree that the people making a difference in cancer care are incredible people. From pediatric oncologists and nurses to scientists and other changemakers, my gratitude and appreciation are truly endless.

But until you watch them care for your child and navigate walking you through the darkest, hardest days of your life, there’s no real way to know how incredible they really are. It is because of these doctors and changemakers within the cancer community that we are on the other side of treatment. Doctors like Dr Douglas Fair, who was awarded the President’s Award in this year’s C2 Awards for his work that has resulted in better care for his patients and their families. My daughter is in preschool. She’s been able to travel! We even went to Disneyland! All things that we wouldn’t have been able to do had it not been for these incredible people who got us to where we are today.

Each year, The C2 Awards, presented by AstraZeneca in partnership with Scientific American Custom Media, recognize those who make a difference for families like mine. Five winners each receive $50,000 to give to a non-profit that serves the cancer community. Officially a big girl. Went right to bed and slept all night! Is it that easy?

Her crib is still in the room and I thought she’d be in it for a while. But last night, she climbed in her bed and said goodnight. And that was that.

We’re having a cozy/lazy day at home with 2 girls who are on the mend. 🤍 Our second (thinner) 🎄 arrived via @treetimechristmascreations and it officially feels like Christmas in here! Never thought I’d be an artificial tree person but these trees are *that* good. I still love a real tree but these are so. much. easier.

We switched out our Positano art with this old (new to us) 🐴 painting. Now I just need to hunt down a 4th Williams-Sonoma discontinued stocking for baby brother.

This may be the most grateful I’ve ever been. It’s our first holiday season off treatment since 2020, with a new little boy on the way. We’re in our new home and the girls may be sick, but we are together where we belong.

I spent *years* longing for a family. Sadly, I don’t have a relationship with either of my parents and the holidays used to be a painful time for me. It’s still hard and the holidays always bring up a lot of feelings for me. I can’t help but think of those of you who are struggling and feeling alone right now.

I have the family I’ve made, and we will be together tomorrow. That is everything. Wishing you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving 🤍

#ad When I became a mom, nothing was more important than making sure my family was healthy. From taking prenatals and making sure we were all always up to date on doctor appointments to getting all our immunizations at @walgreens, I have always done everything I could to make sure we were as safe and healthy as possible.

Months after the pandemic hit, my daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. Immunizations held a new importance for me. I understood the significance of taking care of communities and those who, like my own little girl, were immunocompromised in a very different way. She is no longer immunocompromised, but I hope that our story will serve as a reminder to stay up to date on immunizations.

I’ve shared this before, but for the 798 days of her treatment, we relied on @Walgreens for all our prescriptions and immunizations. So I went to my local #WalgreensPartner for my flu shot and booster this year.

Walgreens offers flu shots to anyone aged 3 years and older, and offers boosters to anyone 5 years and older, plus, they offer a $5 Walgreens Cash reward through December to individuals who receive any immunizations at a Walgreens location. Cold and flu season is here, but it’s not too late. Almost 80% of Americans live within 5 miles of a Walgreens, and during those almost 800 days, not only did they never make a mistake with my daughter’s life-saving medication, but they always went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed in time.

A few months ago, we were able to travel to Italy as a family, and Margot is now able to go to preschool. And we were protected, thanks to @walgreens.

When Margot first saw the pink fabric options for her room, she gasped. Loudly.

And when she saw her newly reupholstered chair and custom headboard tonight, well…swipe to see her reaction. 😍 I was worried I maybe overdid it but even if I did, it was worth it.

Just need a throw pillow or two, to finally install her sconce, and some art.
