Jack’s Bathroom Renovation: Before and After

When we bought our home, the bathrooms came straight from another decade. Dated tile, old wallpaper, worn fixtures, and finishes that had seen better days. It was time for a full bathroom renovation, not just for aesthetics, but function, too. We needed all new plumbing and completely transformed the space to feel fresh and clean. We finished the work a few months ago, but it took a minute to really finish everything. I sometimes get stuck on the finishing touches, but it’s done. The art for both bathrooms arrived last week and the new shower curtain and towels look so fresh! We wanted to keep things really simple and classic for these bathrooms and love how they turned out.
Jack’s Bathroom Renovation: Before and After
I was so excited to have the opportunity to partner with Signature Hardware on these spaces. We have a Signature Hardware free standing tub in our bath and couldn’t be happier with it, so it’s where I planned to look for these updates. We chose the Beasley accessories in polished nickel for both baths — they are beautiful and timeless. The fixtures are all so beautiful, and the “after” feels so good. I especially love the vanity though. It’s super functional and practical since it has a drawer inside.
Here’s a look before the bathroom renovation
As you can see, the space was a little outdated and needed some love. But beyond that, the fixtures were all really old, and all of the plumbing needed to be replaced. It was a project.
Choosing Finishes
We knew we wanted to keep things simple and classic because we like that aesthetic, and know that we’re going to want to sell the house in the coming years. Signature Hardware was the perfect option for us. A custom vanity would have cost more than double, and wasn’t necessary for this space when we could get one that was this beautiful. When it came to choosing tile, we decided to go with carrara and a classic basketweave. It was between hex, basketweave, and herringbone — all simple, classic, and timeless.
Custom Cafe Curtains
Michelle of White Tea and Lilac Design made our window treatments and did the most amazing job. I chose the fabric, and she ordered it for me, and came and did all the measurements and install. She does offer custom hardware but I ended up ordering this style in polished nickel. This fabric is a favorite, and I wanted something that added some pattern and color, but wasn’t too bold. I highly recommend working with Michelle if you’re in the Chicago area and will use her for all of our window treatments moving forward.
