2018 Gift Guide: For the Little Ones
Now that I’ve been at this mom thing for almost 5 months (no, I can’t believe it), I have my list of favorite toys, clothes, and gear to make our lives easier. I plan on keeping things really simple at Christmas time – just a few small toys and a pair of PJs for Margot – but wanted to share all my favorite items that I think would make the best gifts this holiday season. Last night, I asked what gift guides you wanted to see and both baby and guys topped the list. Since I had this guide in the works, it was just the push I needed to wrap things up. I included a few things for 3 and under, too! Here it is – my gift guide for the little ones!
A few notes.
We have most of these items or plan to gift them to Margot. You’ll notice there isn’t a lot of gear and that there is only one musical/light-up toy. When I was pregnant, a physical therapist friend recommended that I avoid any gear that puts baby in a position she can’t be in on her own, and to have her on a mat or blanket as much as possible). I decided that I’d try to make that work for us and went with the baby bjorn bouncy seat (with toy bar), the Bloom Coco Go (I like this but prefer the Baby Bjorn), the Lovevery play gym, and this Little Nomad play mat. That’s all we have.
Since technology is so prevalent in our lives, I am avoiding light up or electronic toys for Margot for now. We have this one that came recommended by a few friends and use it to help keep Margot distracted on car rides. The drums seemed like they could be fun and I appreciate that they’re wooden, so we’ll see how that goes. Most of the toys she plays with are in her Lovevery play kits. They’re the best!
I can’t stress enough that if you have exersaucers and jumpers, there’s nothing wrong with that! You’re a great mom and I do not want to imply that they’re bad. This is just something I decided to try for us. We’ll see how long it lasts!
